Centre-cropped automatically — processed entirely in your browserWhy the file downloads as a PNG
A circular crop needs a transparent background outside the circle, which only PNG supports (JPG would show a white or black square around the circle instead). Once downloaded, most platforms that ask for a "profile picture" will display it correctly, since they usually mask square images into a circle anyway — but for platforms that don't, this gives you a true transparent circular file.
How to use Circle Crop Image
- Upload the photo you want to edit.
- Adjust any sliders, colours, or options shown above the upload box — the preview updates as you go.
- Compare the before and after side by side.
- Download the edited photo once it looks the way you want.
Tips for best results
- Try a few different settings before downloading — most sliders here update the preview instantly, so it's quick to compare options.
- Work from your best-quality original; effects applied on top of an already-compressed photo tend to look rougher.
- If you're combining this with another tool (like compressing afterwards), apply this effect first, then compress last.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Can I apply this more than once to stack the effect?
Yes — download the result and re-upload it to apply the effect again, though stacking some effects can look over-processed quickly.
Does this work on PNG images with transparency?
Transparent areas are generally preserved unless the tool specifically converts to JPG, which fills transparency with white.
Why is my photo cropped square before it becomes a circle?
The largest circle that fits your photo is limited by its shorter side, so the tool first centres a square crop and then masks that to a circle.
Will this work as a direct upload for social media profile pictures?
Most platforms crop your uploaded photo into a circle themselves, so a regular square photo usually works fine there too — this tool is most useful when you need an actual transparent circular file, e.g. for a website or document.
Can I choose which part of the photo stays in the circle?
This tool automatically centres the crop; for control over exactly which area is kept, crop to a square first with our square crop tool before uploading here.
