๐Ÿ“Ž The all-purpose upload limit

Compress an image to under 100KB

100KB is the default ceiling on a huge number of job-application, government, and account-verification forms. This tool gets you under that limit in one step, right in your browser.

The most requested size, and why

If a form doesn't specify an unusually tight limit, 100KB is the number most of them land on โ€” it's large enough to keep a decent-quality photo and small enough that thousands of uploads a day don't strain the receiving server. It's also a comfortable target for document scans and ID photos alike.

Because 100KB leaves more room than the smaller targets on this site, the tool usually only needs to lower JPEG quality slightly rather than shrink the pixel dimensions โ€” so sharpness is generally very well preserved.

โ“ Frequently asked questions

Does this work for scanned documents, not just photos?

Yes โ€” any image file works, including a photographed or scanned page, though a plain document scan will already compress further than a detailed photograph.

Why is my output a JPEG even though I uploaded a PNG?

JPEG compresses photographic content far more efficiently than PNG, so converting during compression is what makes it possible to hit small targets like 100KB without destroying quality.

Is there a limit to how big a file I can upload here?

No hard limit โ€” very large source photos may just take a couple of extra seconds to process since the compression runs on your device.
